System Example: The Original
Our most popular system type: loads of audio, video, security, climate & lighting control.

Step 1: System Design

Project Overview

This client wanted total integration and control, without breaking the bank. We designed the system to include everything he was looking for, while keeping costs as low as possible. This system includes touch screens, audio, video, security, voice/data, lighting, climate, CCTV, and irrigation control.

To save even more money, the client opted to run the wires himself. With nearly 8,000 feet of wire to run, it took him some time, but was nothing he couldn't handle. We then came out and did the full trim-out installation.

Step 2: Rough-in Kit

Wiring Plans, Guides, and Pulling Wire

Detailed wiring plans were created after the design and estimate were accepted by the client. Each system was diagramed on its own page making the plans very readable. Custom guides were also created to ensure that no detail was left unanswered.

For this home the client pulled the wire following our easy-to-ready guides.

Step 3: Custom Programming

Have it all

This was a very well-rounded system. It had almost equal parts of audio, video, lighting, climate control, and security.

  • Complete Audio/Vido Integration - This system included a home theater with a 100" screen, 6 zones of audio, and 4 zones of video. We integrated all of these systems to give the owner access to any of his media (DVR, Windows Media Center, DVD Changer, Music Server, iPod Dock, and AM/FM radio) in any room of the house.
  • Motion Activated Lighting - "Hands Free" was a key topic early in the design phase. We put motion detectors in stairways, hallways, and powder rooms. When the area/room was occupied the lights would automatically turn on to 85%, then turn off when the room was empty.
  • Party Mode - These homeowners love to throw house parties. We created a button that enabled them to turn the house into party central (key lights on and dimmed correctly, music on, and fireplaces on).

Step 4: Trim-Out & Final Install

MHA Installers travel to Georgia

6 months after we started the project it finally came time to do the trim-out and final install. We traveled to the home and completed the install in 3 days. The MHA installer connected a laptop to the system on-site so programmers from the main office could make changes on the fly and test the system in real-time.

After everything was working correctly we gave the family a walk through of the system and taught them how to use it.

Ongoing Changes & Updates

After the family had lived in the home for a few months they requested the following programming additions/changes. As with all our packages, we completed these free of charge, as we will do for as long as they live in the house.

  • Set all outdoor lights come on at dusk and off at midnight.
  • Set all thermostats to reduce their efforts 5 degrees when the family leaves the house, and resume when the family returns.
  • Play the message "pool door open" over the speakers whenever the back door is opened.
  • And many more to come.
