Way to go Dan & Jeremiah - our MHA Installers!

I just received an email from a client in Atlanta. Our installation team was out this past weekend to install a large system in his amazing home. Here's what he had to say:

"I wanted to compliment Dan on the great job he and Jeremiah did for me in Atlanta this past weekend.  They were organized, professional, hard working, conscientious and highly effective.  They also did everything they said they would and managed some difficult issues in taking the wiring over from another vendor.  I wish some of the other contractors were half as good!"

Well done guys!

iPad Sells 90,000 Units on Day 1

From the estimates we have been seeing it looks like Apple sold between 90,000 and 120,000 iPads last Friday. That is pretty amazing for a product that almost nobody has held in their hands or even seen in person.

This shows how the popularity of the touch screen has grown. Many companies have attempted tablets in the past, but never with widespread success.

Estimates are Apple took in about $50 million on iPad preorders, not bad for one day. We would be happy to do that in an entire year!

How To Setup Remote Access - Part 4: iPhone Setup

We have now established remote access to our home automation system by configuring port forwarding in the router, creating a DDNS account, and setting up Snaplink. We now move onto getting the iPhone up and running, which is a piece of cake!

Step 1: Download the App - Go the App Store and download the add "H@me".

Step 2: Edit Preferences - After the H@me app installs open it up and go the preferences. Enter the following information:
  • IP: This is your DDNS account (myhome.homeip.net)
  • Port: 4369
  • Key 1: encryption key (explained in Part 3 of this guide)
  • Key 2: encryption key (explained in Part 3 of this guide)
  • Code: Your 4-digit user code

Step 3: Save & Connect - The first time you connect you will need to LOAD NAMES. This is a one-time download.

Enjoy!

OmniTouch 5.7e Touch Screen Design: Kid's Room

Kids love touch screens too! This design gives David three options, each will activate lights, timers, and A/V. As he gets older more functionality can be added to the touch screen.

OmniTouch 5.7e Touch Screen Design: Clean & Sleek

Another design we have been working on. This is puts everything onto the floor plans for a very sleek and user friendly look. Clicking the icons on the plans will bring up music, lights, cameras, and thermostats.

I would love to get some feedback on these, post your comments below!

OmniTouch 5.7e Touch Screen Design: Carbon Fiber

I have been playing around with HAI's Automation Studio software for the past few months. Recent updates have allowed us to start doing some very cool things (such as transparencies, meta data, etc). Here's a sample of one of the interfaces we are working on:
